Our Wedding Story

Planning our wedding was one of the most meaningful journeys of our lives. We wanted every detail to reflect who we are — our faith, our love, and the deep sense of peace we’ve found in one another.

Our venue, Lace on Timber, was the perfect setting. Nestled among trees and bathed in soft afternoon light, it created a natural elegance that was both serene and romantic. The décor followed a timeless green and white palette, with soft florals, glowing candles, and a touch of rustic charm that made the entire day feel sacred and full of grace.

My wedding dress was designed and created by my very talented friend, Marianne. It was pure white with exquisite beadwork and delicate embroidered butterflies, symbolising my late mother’s presence. Every stitch held meaning. At 45, this was my first marriage — and after years of waiting and growing, I married not only the right man, but a dear friend I had known for 25 years.

Music played a central role in our ceremony. Joshua na die Reën sang “Wêreld binne my” as my walk-in song — a moment filled with emotion and reverence. The Laudem Choir performed the Irish Blessing and Psalm 17 by Prof. Awie, their harmonies filling the space with a sense of heaven on earth. As part of our vows, we sang “I Will Be Here” together as a duet, accompanied by Johan Heystek — a moment that brought many to tears.

Our wedding was more than a celebration — it was a testimony of faith, patience, and love fulfilled in God’s perfect time. Every moment, from the laughter to the music to the quiet prayers, reminded us that true love is always worth the wait.
