Our love story began in 2021 with laughter, forgotten feta cheese, and a 16-hour road trip where we never once turned on the radio. From a first date at sunset at the Seal Point Lighthouse to a New Year’s Day proposal at the very top of that same lighthouse, our journey has always been guided by light, joy, and the people around us.

And that’s exactly what made our wedding on 18 October 2025 the best day of our lives.

We were married on the farm where Imke grew up, in the same countryside church where generations of her family have said their vows for more than 100 years.

Imke’s mom (who insists she isn’t a professional dressmaker) created Imke’s dream gown, all the bridesmaids’ dresses, and outfits for all six flower children — all while running a guesthouse and a wedding venue — which meant she was also the unofficial logistics manager, décor consultant, emotional-support hotline, and chief problem-solver in the months leading up to the wedding.

Imke’s 91-year-old gran embroidered the flower girl dresses and our wedding pillows, leaving us with heirlooms we will treasure forever.

Ladies from the community arranged flowers and helped set up. Neighbours opened their homes for guests traveling to our “middle-of-nowhere” farm wedding.

Imke’s brother coordinated and arranged all the music, and was joined by talented aunts, cousins, and friends who gifted us with their voices and instruments.

What made our wedding extraordinary wasn’t extravagance — it was love, teamwork, heritage, and the kindness of an entire community coming together.
