STORIE:

Our wedding was the most intentional and joy-filled season of our lives. From the very beginning, we approached our planning with one goal: This day was about the two of us.

We booked our venue one year and ten months in advance. We went to visit De Harte almost “just for fun” while we were still freshly engaged, and the moment I stepped into that space, I knew. I stood there with my fiance, who already had tears in his eyes. There was no second-guessing. It was the one.

From there, every detail unfolded.

For my dress, I knew exactly what I wanted, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. So I decided to create it from scratch with a lady I truly think is the best designer in Johannesburg – Lizette from Bridal Alchemy. For ten months, she quite literally built the dress on me at every fitting. It slowly came to life piece by piece, until it became something more perfect than I could have imagined. It was everything I had dreamed of, and more.

My husband didn’t want me to see his suit either, so from the beginning it was one big surprise, him seeing my dress for the first time, and me seeing him standing there waiting for me. That moment made it all so much more special.

The decor was one of the most intentional parts of our wedding. I wanted a piece of myself and my husband in it. A year before the wedding, I started collecting pampas, sourcing ceramic pots, and painting them myself. I even planted a eucalyptus tree so that we could look at the decor and know that the decor had a story of its own, from our own gardens, family gardens, and the love we poured into it ourselves. With the incredible help of Little Lot, who truly brought my vision to life, everything came together more beautifully than I could have imagined.

We did not leave each other’s sides. From start to finish, we stayed together. The day was filled with tears (with both of us crying at even the smallest moments), so much laughter, and so SO much love.

It was truly the wedding of our dreams.
